Jaeger
Jaeger is an open-source, CNCF-graduated distributed tracing platform originally built at Uber to monitor and troubleshoot transactions across microservice-based systems. It collects, stores, and visualizes trace spans so operators can follow a single request as it flows across many services.
Baseline topologies
| Topology | Minimum nodes | Roles |
|---|---|---|
| all-in-one | 1 | jaeger |
| production | 2 | jaeger-collector, jaeger-query |
What drives the cost
- Peak spans per second
- Peak trace span ingestion rate. Drives collector CPU and storage write throughput.
- Trace retention (days)
- How long trace data is retained. Drives storage backend capacity.
Where it runs
