HashiCorp Nomad Cluster
Nomad is a HashiCorp workload orchestrator that schedules containers, standalone binaries, and other job types across a pool of servers and client nodes, filling a role similar to Kubernetes with a lighter, single-binary design.
Baseline topologies
| Topology | Minimum nodes | Roles |
|---|---|---|
| three-server-cluster | 6 | nomad-server, nomad-client |
| five-server-cluster | 8 | nomad-server, nomad-client |
What drives the cost
- Peak concurrent running jobs
- Peak number of concurrently running jobs (allocations) across the cluster. Drives server scheduling capacity and Raft log pressure.
- Client node count
- Number of Nomad client nodes running workloads. Drives server evaluation and heartbeat overhead.
Where it runs
bare_metal, dedicated, cloud_vm
