VictoriaMetrics Cluster
VictoriaMetrics is a time-series database and monitoring solution that ingests and stores Prometheus-compatible metrics using a compressed columnar storage format. It targets a lower memory and disk footprint than Prometheus itself at comparable ingestion scale, while remaining query-compatible via PromQL.

What drives the cost
- Active time series
- Total number of unique active time series being ingested. Primary driver for vmstorage memory and CPU requirements.
- Ingestion rate (samples/second)
- Sustained metric sample ingestion rate. Drives vminsert CPU throughput and vmstorage write I/O.
- Retention period (months)
- How long to retain metric data. Combined with ingestion rate and series count to determine vmstorage disk capacity.
